Following graduation, he completed a rotating Small Animal Internship at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. After his internship, Dr. Tanner worked in emergency medicine in Knoxville before relocating to Atlanta, where he continued his ER career before transitioning fully into General Practice.
Dr. Tanner previously served as Chief of Staff and part owner of the Banfield Pet Hospital in Austell from 2010–2023. He later joined Thrive Pet Healthcare as an Area Medical Director, supporting four hospitals. His clinical passions include soft tissue surgery and dermatology, and he is committed to mentoring young doctors and veterinary students.
Dr. Tanner has been married for 10 years and is the proud father of two children: a 9-year-old daughter, Leighton, and a 5-year-old French Bulldog named Kinsley. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, cooking, and spending time with his family—proudly embracing his role as a “girl dad.”
